20 - Development - Re-architecting Rewrite        Tues, 06/08/10 - Scott

Started back to work on this screenplay today, after an unexpected 8 month break. Nowhere Man is on track to be finished in two months. It's about time.

There is a lot to do. Too much technical terminology (I saw a movie recently that sounded like it had been written by an engineer. I understood it, but most people would just turn off.) One loose end worth developing - need to develop the relationship with the main character's wife. Too many meetings. Need to follow at least one patient. Some things lacked credibility - at least to some. Need to pump up the ending.

This is what Development is all about. You analyze the story for writing elements, how well it potentially pleases an audience (and distributors), and problems, and then you re-architect the story to improve it.
