Advertising Policy

This page covers Writers Port advertising, Visual Writer non-advertising, and link requests.

The Writers Port service, unlike the Visual Writer content pages, is not a content site, but a service, and welcomes advertisering. Writers Port obviously is closely associated with Visual Writer. Other strategic alliances may be considered. Banners are not used because they force the page (information) down, using content real estate. The area offered for advertising is 200pixel wide by 200, 300, 400, 600 along the right side of the page, which is usually free of content and has the advantage of persistent visibility.

While it is neccessary to get people's attention, ads (applets or Java Script) must not be continuously distracting or irritating. Pop-ups are not permitted. Regarding ad content and the site or product that is advertised, this is a family style site with a significant public school and young adult audience, and ads must be appropriate for the environment. Exchange ads are welcome. Advertising and the links on the service are in no way related or dependent. Ads that do data collection are not permitted by the Privacy Policy of this site. The Visual Writer main site primarily offers content which is intended to be progressive and potentially thought provoking or even controversial, and these pages have remained "no advertising" in order to remain free from conflicts of interest that could influence content and links to content sites.

Other writing oriented sites may be linked to the Visual Writer content pages if they are willing to enter into a friendly relationship (exchange links) and seem to be both beneficial and relevant to writers. Linking does not constitute a recommendation.
